I just love headturners!!
Cars, MotorCycles, boats
I just looove them!
It all started 1980 with an old volvo PV 444 from 1957, standing at a car dealer in Malmoe, Sweden. I was 15 years old, and I just wanted a car. The Volvo had been in a car crasch, and was hit on the right side, After a reasonable negotion with the owner, we made the deal, but I had to tow it from the car dealer. I tried to renovate the car, but it was to heavy damaged, so I have to give up, probally to young with lack of knowledge.
My next car was also a Volvo, this time a Volvo PV 444 from 1953 which i bought from my brother-in-law 1987. The care didn´t start, so I had to rent a car trailer to take it home. Unfortunately I placed the car with to front towards the end, and after a drive of one kilometer the car trailer starded to wobble, and after some frightening seconds the trailer and the car was upside down.. I hade to give up this car as well....
Well, I talked to the goy who drove the tow truck, and he told me that he had an old uncle who had a Volvo PV 444 1957 standing in his garage. I went to the uncle, and bought the car. This was my first renovation, finally! I drove the car until 1996, when it was sold to a europeran company that exported the car, probably to Holland and USA.
In 1983 my father got interested in my work, so he bought a very crappy Volvo P1800 S from 1965, and asked me for my help. We I worked for a year or so, and renovated the whole car. You know, engine, gearbox, rear-axel, Lucas electricity system, interior trim, preparing the paint job..... The car looked great, and was sold to Holland after a couple of year.
Around 1997 I bought a Porsche 944 1988, very cheap, lots of stuff to do. I worked in my garage, and fixed the car as ususal. But, when it was time to install the windshield, the glazier told me it didn´t fit. He was right, I had not one Porsche, I had TWO!! The former owner had welded two parts together from a car crash..... Not very nice... The care was after som years sold to a student who actuallu didn´t mind that he bought two cars!
Then came a looong period with family, children and work. But in 2007, we moved to a new house, and I found to my surprise a Mercedes 450 SLC V8 from 1973 in the garage. I negotiated with the owner, and the care became a part of the house-deal. I started the renovation, and after a year the car was in mint condition, and was sold to a businessman from Rumania.
The winter off 2014 I bought a boat made in Southampton, UK, called Princess Riviera 286. This was my third boat project, one engine had broken, so i dedided to buy two new longblock from USA an import them. It was two Volvo eninges AQ271, but Volvo buys there gas-engine, and only manufactures the diesel eninge, so it is actually a Chevrolet 350, 5,7 liter engine. I still have the boat, and I have replaced about everything regarding the mechanic, electricity system, anchor, kitchen. Wunderful boat , 30 feet and races up to 40 knots.Ever made a boat trip with a Princess 286 Riviera? www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9rnwbHbW-w Nice interior: www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUuQAv3ZqUc
During the spring of 2015 I bought a very nice MGA MK II 1962 in mint condition ( the seller told me), but of course, there where a lot to do, so this is an on-going-project. What do you think, isnt this one of the finest looking roadsters: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mvs4WylCSac
During the fall of 2015 I found an ad on Internet that catched my interest, a guy in Sweden sold a Marcos sports car. I had never heard about Marcos, but reading the story about the car manufactor made me fascinated, and after a short negotiation I was the happy owner of a Marcos GT1600! The car is totally crap, everything has to be replaced, so this is an on-going-project. Marcos GT1600 1967 , one of the most great looking cars ever built: www.youtube.com/watch?v=n73j5oBI6Bs
I think both cars an motorcycles are just not something done by som enginers, its also a pice of art. What do you think about BMW, the German motocycle manufactor? Since the summer om 2015 I have this wonderful piece of craftsmanship in my garage: www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIfQuM4aZNs
